“Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”
Matthew 6:8 (NIV)

The Deadline Was Looming, My Wallet Was Empty—But Heaven Was Already Moving.

When Trusting God Doesn’t Make Sense—But He Shows Up Anyway

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed something desperately, and no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t see a way through? I’ve been there—and I want to share a story that reminded me just how personal and faithful God really is.

A while back, I needed $4,000 to cover my daughter’s spring semester of graduate school. I didn’t have the money, and I felt a deep conviction from the Holy Spirit not to go into debt. That meant no loans, no credit cards—just trust. I had about a month to figure it out, and no idea where the money would come from.

As the days passed, I kept praying. I told God, “I don’t know how You’ll provide, but I believe You will. I don’t want to go into debt, and I believe You don’t want me to either.”

But as the payment deadline got closer—with only a week left—I started to waver. I considered applying for a credit card with 0% interest or taking out a small loan. It felt logical. Responsible, even. But every time I tried to go down that path, I felt a lack of peace. I knew the Holy Spirit was gently saying, “Wait.”

I told my daughter the truth: “I don’t know how this is going to work out, but we’re going to trust God together.” Honestly, it was one of the scariest decisions I’ve ever made. The easiest thing would’ve been to fix it myself. But I chose to wait.

Then, just a few days before the money was due, I received a letter in the mail from someone I knew—but hadn’t spoken anything about my need for money.  Inside was a note saying they wanted to send me a gift. And enclosed with the note?

A check for exactly $4,000.

They had no idea about the deadline. No idea what I’d been praying for. I was completely overwhelmed. God had provided the exact amount I needed, right on time, without me asking anyone but Him.

That experience taught me something I’ll never forget: God knows us. Intimately. He sees the details we don’t even think matter. He hears our quiet prayers and honors our faith, even when it’s hanging by a thread. Could I have taken out a loan or gotten a credit card? Sure. God wouldn’t have been mad. But if I had taken control, I would have missed the miracle He had waiting for me.

Sometimes, trusting God means stepping back when every part of you wants to step in.

So, if you’re facing something today that seems impossible, be encouraged. God already knows what you need. He’s not panicked or caught off guard. He’s working behind the scenes in ways you can’t see yet. And when the time is right, He will show up—right on time.

PRAYER

Father, thank You for being my faithful Provider and for knowing my needs even before I speak them. Forgive me for the times I rush ahead and try to fix things in my own strength. Teach me to wait on You, even when it feels risky or uncertain. Help me to trust that You are working behind the scenes, arranging every detail with love and precision. Thank You for caring about the small things, for hearing my quiet prayers, and for showing up right on time. Strengthen my faith so that, when fear rises, I will choose trust over control. I place my needs, my plans, and my timeline in Your hands, knowing that You will provide in Your perfect way and in Your perfect time. Amen.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (ESV)
